EAST FRANKFURT. Owned by renowned German DJ Sven Väth, Cocoon is absolutely state of the art from top to bottom. The triangular space is rimmed with cozy individual pods (or "cocoons") that screen out some of the sound without removing you from all the action ­ perfect for a little tête-à-tête. The two adjacent restaurants, ClubRestaurant Micro and BedRestaurant Silk, are trendy destinations on their own, but the main draw is the club itself. Expect top notch lights, video, and music from this cutting-edge spot.

SACHSENHAUSEN. Since it opened in 1988, Dreikonigskeller has been drawing raves from happy partiers. The club offers a different theme every night, and the crowd varies depending on the type of music. Some of the more popular nights feature jazz and blues, rare grooves from the 60s and 70s, R&B and soul, new wave and 80s, goth and indie ­ you name it, Dreikonigskeller has probably got a night devoted to it!

CITY CENTER. This is where young Frankfurt comes to meet and mingle. It's a dress-to-impress sort of place, so avoid sneakers and jeans. Inside there's a big dance floor with music ranging from disco to pop to hip-hop. There's also a more relaxed balcony area and a VIP lounge. Be prepared for a long line up and wait to get in!

CITY CENTER. The trendy King Kamehameha club is housed in what was once a brewery, appropriate real estate for a happening nightspot. The two floors inside offer different spaces for different moods: a restaurant for the hungry, a bar for the thirsty, a lounge for the lazy, and a big central dance floor for the energetic. Music is supplied by resident DJs, with occasional performances by regional musicians.

CITY CENTER. Set in a former police station, the Praesidium is a beautiful restaurant/nightclub with marble pillars, elaborate staircases, antique couches and chairs, and a thoroughly sophisticated atmosphere. It is not uncommon to have several DJs will spin each evening, so you might hear anything from house and techno to R&B and hip-hop.
